Lab 12 - Meiosis (Gametogenesis)

Step One
Lab Twelve "Meiosis". In this lab, you will learn how diploid (2n) cells in the gonads (male testes and female ovaries) undergoe meiosis for the production of haploid (n) gametes.

Pre-Lab Lecture

Objectives

To be able to name and describe the phases of meiosis I & II, with attention to the movement of chromosomes.

To be able to contrast the behavior of chromosomes during mitosis with the behavior of chromosomes to meiosis I & II.

To be able to understand male and female gametogenesis.

To be able to contrast spermatogenesis with oogenesis.

This "Virtual" lab experiment is titled, "Meiosis " Here you will use three interactive programs to better understand the process of meiosis.
